Double Success on Sunny Sunday

This morning Neil and Jonathan played Colliers Wood in the National Family Pairs. Starting strongly, they led 7 – 0 after 4 ends and 13 – 4 after 11 ends. Dropping 5 shots in the next 3 ends saw the shot difference down to 4, before a run of 5 winning ends took them to 21 – 9 at which point their opponents conceded with two ends to play. A place in the last 4 in the Surrey/Sussex group is the reward for the winners of the next round!

This afternoon, Wimbledon Park hosted Merton in the latest league match. Ron, Anne, Pete and Martin matched the visitors until the 12th end with the score at 8 – 11, but a run of 5 ends against them took the score out of reach and they eventually lost 11 – 23. Gay, Betty, Vernon and Barry played well to win 16 of the 21 ends, finishing winners by 26 shots to 6. Hector, Helen, Ossie and Neil were behind for most of the game but a strong finish saw them pick up 10 shots in the last 3 ends to win 21 – 13. Match result 8 – 2 (58 shots to 42).
