Final Mid-Week Triples Match v Merton

On Wednesday afternoon we had our final Mid-Week Triples match at home to Merton. Jay, Vera and Dave were faced with only two players and ended up bowling 8 bowls against 6. Starting well they led 8 – 1 after five ends, before Merton bounced back to level at 11 -11, five ends later. WPBC won 5 of the remaining 8 ends to just hold on to take the win 19 – 17. Elaine, Mark and Neil also started well and were 11 – 3 ahead after nine ends and 17 – 7 with four ends to play. Merton finished very strongly picking up nine shots in those last four ends which gave WPBC the rink win 17 – 16. Match result 8 – 0 (36 shots to 33).
