The 2017 Merton Primary Schools’ Tournament

June 19th – The fourth Merton Primary Schools’ Tournament took place today hosted by Merton BC, in the presence of the Surrey Senior Vice-President, Roger Lanham, the Surrey Women’s Senior Vice-President, Dorothy Roberts, and the Deputy Mayor of Merton, Councillor Judy Saunders. Four schools coached by four of Merton’s bowls clubs took part. Singlegate, coached by Merton Park BC, emerged as the dominant school on the day, taking the 2017 title with 348 points. In a close second place came Joseph Hood, coached by Merton BC, with 247 points, followed in 3rd by Garfield, coached by Wimbledon Park BC, with 241 points and in 4th were Benedict, coached by Mitcham BC with 232 points. A great day was had by all and our grateful thanks go to Barry for leading the coaching, helped at the final by Alison, Claire, John P-W, Maggie and Vicki who transported the equipment across to Merton.
