Wimbledon and District Finals

9.9.18 – Sunday saw the Wimbledon and District Finals take place over at Wandilea BC. For the first time that I can recall we had finalists in 5 District Finals, an incredible achievement given that there are 13 competitions. In the first session Barry and Neil played Heathfield in the Men’s Pairs. In a close encounter Heathfield pulled away to lead 15 – 7, before Wimbledon Park levelled at 15 – 15. That was as close as it got however as Heathfield went on to win 24 – 18. Session 2 saw Neil take on Wandilea in the Mixed Singles, in another tight game it was Wandilea who took the honours with a 21 – 19 win.  In Session 3 Barry, George, Pete and Martin were up against Heathfield in the Men’s Fours and Neil played Raynes Park in the Champion of Champions. In the Fours Wimbledon Park opened up a 16 – 10 lead, before Heathfield took a count of 5. The last ends were equally close with Heathfield sneaking the victory by a single shot! The final session featured Sabrina, Barry and Neil against Wandilea in the Mixed Triples. With darkness falling Wandilea took control and hands were shaken with the score at 7 – 19.
